Dooars:Bindu , Santhalikhola , Rocky Island

And the name is Joldhaka πŸ™‚ One of the four predominant rivers that flows in North Bengal. The other three being Teesta, Torsha and Raidaak.

Bindu is the last village on Indian side before Bhutan. Β It also has a dam on the river Jaldhaka. The dam is used to control water flow to Jaldhaka Hydel Project. Besides all these quick facts, the place itself happens to be very rich in terms of scenic beauty. We stood near the dam and watched the hills on the other side, Bhutan.

The river looked beautiful with a blue coloured transparent water flowing past the boulders…

And then , there was the view from the Dam..

We had our lunch at this place in a restaurant overlooking the river and the hills. Actually, half the restaurant was ON the river and it was supported by bamboo that is what I call architecture to suit the land! πŸ˜€

We proceeded to Santhalikhola and then to Rocky island post that. The route was beautiful..

Road to Samsing
Road to Samsing…notice the mountains?

The mountains looked lovely. I sat there and tried to get a good picture of the ranges.. but as the luck had it, could not get a decent picture to support my repeted pleading of this place actually being beautiful.

On the way to Santhalikhola

Santhalikhola and Rocky Island are two beautiful, quiet places that are really close to nature. They have, like most of the other places in Dooars, clean air and beautiful natural beauty. In fact, we are going to come back here as this trip was a bit too short to fully appreciate the beauty of the two places.

Mountain view from Rocky Island

Beautiful streams , and great opportunity for nature photography. Some pictures…

Santhalikhola also has a wire bridge that connects the government resort to the rest of the world. I stood there contemplating how it would be to stay here. I was mesmerised by the beauty of this place. Will go back there…someday… πŸ™‚
